ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Zoe Qian. I'm a conference interpreter, translator and language consultant based in Bonn, Germany. I'm an AIIC pre-candidate, member of VKD (German Conference Interpreters Association) and certified by American Translators Association (ATA) for English into Chinese translation.
I grew up in China and have spent over a decade in Singapore, the UK, Germany and the US.

Q: What's the difference between interpretation and translation?
A: Interpretation is spoken, while translation is written.
Q: Why should I hire a professional? Can I just use the machine?
A: The short answer is not hiring one can result in mistranslation, which will cost you more. My education, experience and expertise, on the other hand, can help you reach a wider audience and improve your bottom line. My degree at MIIS is recognized by both the UN and the EU. I received training in conference interpretation from AIIC members and coaching in financial, technical and legal translation from leading translators certified by ATA.
Q: Which form of Chinese do you speak?
A: I speak Mandarin Chinese and use Simplified Chinese - both are the standard form in mainland China. Though I can read Traditional Chinese, translating into it takes more than converting the simplified version into the traditional one. If you require a translation into Traditional Chinese however, I'd be more than happy to help you find a qualified linguist.
Q: What are your rates?
A: I offer a day rate for interpretation and I bill my translation services by the project. Every assignment is unique, so get in touch below for a project-specific quote.
